Re: can you identify this insect
Have you tried a magnifying glass? Are there any small webs on the leaves? If so, I would say black spider mites. They were crawling in the second video rather than jumping like a flea beetle. The Neem oil solution should help if they are spider mites.
Re: can you identify this insect
I agree, looks like spider mite. Has the weather been hot and dry?
Start spaying water with a hose to knock them off and remember to do top and underside of leaves. Do it in the morning to allow the leaves to dry during the day.
Good luck!

weather is becoming hot and dry. In the 90's today, will be in 100's Wednesday. Thanks everyone for your help. I need a stronger magnifying glass. The one I have is no better than my camera.

My fight with spider mites is just around the corner. And don't forget the cheeters!
Re: can you identify this insect
I have spider mites also every year. What do you use to try to control them. I never used anything in the past. But this year I decided to get ahead of the program and spray as soon as I noticed they were around. Always on my beans. So I sprayed the Fortex and Rattlesnake Beans with the neem last night for spider mites. Bt on the corn for caterpillars of some kind chewing on the leaves. Milk spray on the peas for powdery mildew. I should have sprayed Daconil or Copper Fungicide on the Tomatoes but I really don't like spraying anything when I have fruit setting on. I thought the milk spray would be harmless to the pea pods so I sprayed the milk/water mixture on the peas.sanderson wrote:My fight with spider mites is just around the corner. Re: can you identify this insect
For spider mites, I start with misting (dry climate). Then turn to milk solution. Then to Neem oil. I have an arsenal of spray bottles, one for every home remedy.
Re: can you identify this insect
I'm still learning to identify spider mites. Once identified I use liquid seaweed, 1.5-2 oz per gallon. it works well. I prefer to use it in the evening. I need to start using it as a preventive for certain plants. I will keep you updated how it works this time.

Re: can you identify this insect
The eggplant leaf is classic flea beetle damage. Flea beetles will soon be done with this life cycle, so the damage is not going to continue. The squash and cucumber leaves that are yellowing....it is chlorosis. Chlorosis is the result of nutrient deficiency. Fertilize your garden

Maybe cucumber mosaic virus (spread by insects such as aphids)?

Flea Beetles
The eggplant is flea beetles. The best thing for flea beetles is prevention - row covers that have no holes.
I think you possibly have cucumber beetles on the cucumbers. Bright yellow and black spotted or striped insects. These are easy to manually pick of and destroy, or treat with insecticidal soap.

Re: can you identify this insect
Thanks, everyone for helping me get my cucumbers plant problem corrected. They are growing very well now, except the Armenian cucumbers. Do they do well in heat? They are growing but not producing babies. The other cucumber is making lots of fruit. I think it straight eight or burpless.

Because of the profile, I was thinking a leaf hopper. A Canadian variety?
