Great Elephant Garlic experiement
Great Elephant Garlic experiement
I have been looking for Elephant Garlic grown in the USA for a long time. Today I found them in a large chain super market. I have included pics. I went out to plant, the ground was frozen to about six inches down. I hacked and dug and brought up some unfrozen MM, then added some over it that I had stashed in the barn. I planted the the bottom of the clove about five inches down.
We'll see.

We'll see.

Re: Great Elephant Garlic experiement
I found some elephant garlic in the grocery store. I hope you have good luck with them.

Lol, Rock!
I can't wait to hear the results.
Those cloves are ginormous! I've heard that elephant garlic is very mild. Did you save a clove and eat it?

Re: Great Elephant Garlic experiement
Just to update the GEGE (Great Elephant Garlic Experiment), the temp has been above 32 all day and it has started raining fairly steady. The ground has softened and I poured warm water on the area where the garlic is planted. Hopefully the pour cloves won't know that they were planted in frozen ground and this will simulate the change over to winter.
Thoughts anyone?
