Another new month, the penultimate of 2017.

Yesterday I was able to get out in the sunshine and collect eleven bags of leaves from my neighbours lawn trees and the roadway leading down to the tunnel under the railway.  Seven bags of birch from the roadway and four bags from the two species of trees on her front lawn.  All beautifully dry and easy to carry home, but I must admit I was feeling tired by the time I finished.  I stashed the bags in my carport ready to shred later when I can. I am hoping that my new lawnmower will be up to shredding at least as good as my old one.  My new mower includes a mulcher and it does not throw the leaves out of the side which made it hard to handle them, but leaves them on the ground under the lades.

Last night it rained so I was happy that I made the effort to get out and do some work.  The City has not yet got around to our area, we are almost the last when it comes to having snow clearing, leaf clearing, etc, etc, but that is OK, we are a very quiet neighbourhood and I love it that way.

The weather forecast  the next two days is rain, followed by some days of mixed snow and rain, so more leaf collecting is out of the question for now.

This year I am having another go at winter sowing sees in plastic bottles.  I did some a couple of winters ago and I had some success.

I will also get my AreoGarden back in the living room and grow some herbs, just to have something green to look at combined with the light.  The success of that will depend on how well I can keep my cat off limits. Compared to a year ago, he is a different at, much more lively now that he has lost six pounds of fat, he did weigh sixteen pounds when he first arrived and I feel he is in excellent health.  PS., I think I have gained his six pounds.

Wow, Kelejan!  You got a lot done!  Our weather was great, but you are getting the wet and cold that we have here now...bound to happen I guess.

I can't wait to see a photo of skinny Pal. Hint. I can see the advantage of an AreoGarden when it's cold, rainy and/or snowing. Something green to touch, smell and fuss over.

Just after seven in the morning and it is raining so no hope of collecting any more leaves today. Mad

I still have not mastered the use of a camera.  My PC guru suggested I got myself a Mac iPod (or is it an Android?) as it is so much easier to use.  I am seriously thinking I might do that as everyone else around me seems to be sporting something like that, even oldies like me.  I have saved up enough to be able to buy one.  Perhaps a Christmas present for myself?

As for Pal, he doesn't look very different as his fur covers any loss but he certainly feels different when I stroke him as I can feel his bones and muscles instead of soft fat.  He is far more alive and now needs a little more food to keep him fueled. At five in the morning he is on my bed waking me to tell me his food bowl is empty.  Until a little while ago there was always a little left in the morning. I think he has reached his optimum weight.

2 1/2 hours ago  when I looked out I thought it was raining heavily, now that it is light I see the snow is settling on to the trees and grass although the roads remain snow free due to the higher temperature on the road. The forecast is from two to ten cms overnight, then I think my shovel will be put to use.

It is no use bewailing all the things I should have done; as usual, I am too late. Smile

Still too many trees still with their leaves but I expect they will be alright as the forecast is still only around the zero mark, so mostly mixed rain/snow.

Looked out my window and it is a Winter Wonderland.  15cm forecast for tonight, and I have to be out early in the morning to catch a bus Uptown to help with the Craft Fair at our community complex.  I live Downtown in a long, skinny town parallel to the Columbia River.

22cm/ 9 inches  of snow on the ground now. Just cleared my walkway so that I can get down to the road.  Road not clear so I will have to walk in the tire tracks and then when I return I will have to clear the snow berm that is always left. Although I miss having a car, I do appreciate not having to clear it of snow and also shovel the complete width of the driveway.

This is a day I would happily stay at home  and get my snowshoes out for some exercise.  No leaves to collect as they are all buried.

I know you are experienced walking in the snow - just be careful.

Thanks for the caring replies, sanderson, Beatles and Scorpio.  I got me some new walking shoes with good cleats that worked well when I had to walk to our Veterans' Banquet on Saturday.  Luckily the snow had melted a bit and it was not too cold so there was plenty of clear spaces to place one's feet.  Today, what is left of the snow has frozen and that makes walking a pain.  More trouble when fresh snow falls on hardened snow and one cannot see where to step.

We still have snow around. Tomorrow it will be above freezing for a few days and every day with a mixture of snow and rain.  No sunshine.

No sunshine here, either.  Sad Wish I could figure out a way to bottle some of that brutal sun we had last summer and share it with my friends, now. BIG hug

I  know what you mean, County Naturals. No sunshine right now but it is above freezing.  Last summer was the hottest, driest and longest for some year and my garden did not thrive.  I  am hoping for a better year in 2018.

At least a few days ago I put some sunflower seeds in a clear container and they are just beginning to sprout and I will place them under my AreoGarden later today.
