Hey! From Charleston, SC
I'm new to SFG. The bf built a lovely raised bed for me and so I've jumped in with both feet. I've got two squares of garlic, three of collards, one of peas, one bush bean, four beets (that all got beat to heck in our last storm and I don't think are going to come back), and four carrots (of which only two have come up- not two squares, literally two carrots). Hopefully, all of my efforts yield something, we'll see!

and from Northern California. I'm on my 2nd tour with SFG. I did it back in the '80s with the old method, then revived it again last year. Now I'm adding a bed with the ANSFG method and MM. Exciting stuff! We would love to see some pics of your garden.ThatsMeJenniG wrote:I'm new to SFG. The bf built a lovely raised bed for me and so I've jumped in with both feet. Hi Jenni / TMJ, Welcome to the Forum from central California! Have you had a chance to read "All New Square Foot Gardening"? I'm looking forward to this evening's photos.
Re: Hey! From Charleston, SC
Hi! Thank you! I have it on order at the library, just waiting on the notice that it's in. I also ordered it on Amazon and am waiting on it to be delivered- supposedly, it shipped last Fridaysanderson wrote:Hi Jenni / TMJ, Welcome to the Forum from central California! It's a great read. Incredibly thorough and Mel's enthusiasm and love of gardening just leap off the page and lick your face like a warm puppy.ThatsMeJenniG wrote:Hi! Thank you! I was in a bookstore and I almost bought Mel's original SFG book. They had two copies old book and about five copies of the ANSFG 2nd Edition.

Welcome, TMJ!!!! Ohio here! Can’t wait to hear about your maiden journey into SFGing. It is a game changer. Have you ever gardened before? What are you thinking of planting? What do you like to eat?
So glad you are here!

Tee hee! I obviously am in love with my pups from my profile pic/avatar. I bring my other pup with me to work every day. I'm just patiently waiting on either the call from the library or the delivery man to bring me my book and now the anticipation is even worse with the promise of puppy kissescountrynaturals wrote:Actually, I much prefer kittens, but you get the idea.ThatsMeJenniG wrote:Puppies?!?! I have attempted gardening before, but the combination of tree rats (you may know them as squirrels- the bane of my gardening existence) and my somewhat black thumb, I've never been more successful than a tomato or two and a couple of beans.
I've already put in garlic, peas, beans, beets, carrots, brussels sprouts and collards. The garlic, beans and peas are doing beautifully. The collards were doing well before I transplanted them, but I'm optimistic about their rebound. The beets were doing ok until we had a few days of torrential rain which beat my beets all to heck and now it looks like only two are going to make it, so I'll put down some more seed. None of my brussels came up and only two carrots have made an appearance.
I haven't met a vegetable that if I don't love, I don't at least have an appreciation for.
