Gonna answer my own question.... Planting onions again! Several books I have dont reccomend following oinions with onions but since I am a SFG'er and using mels mix I think I will try it. My first onion 4x4 was planted with sets and due to weather, temps, rain etc they finished early with small bulbs, my 2 box is the same thing I will harvest it this afternoon. But the 3rd box that was planted 30 days later after the last snow is still vibrant and green. So the only decision now is seeds or sets? Any recommendations from the crew?

Isn't it too late to plant onions in Texas? Although, perhaps if you are in the upper Panhandle it might not be. If I had a whole 4x4 bed to plant, it would be a no-brainer. Squash, squash, glorious squash! What to follow Onions with? Icon_biggrin

I have onions co-planted with carrots, lettuce, and strawberries. Glad to know someone is harvesting onions... my sets are only just starting to grow stems! Smile

growing onions from seeds here.
Put in some seeds in late march/early april that are not about 10cm tall (the stems that is).
Seeded some more (different variety) last week, will have to see if those work out.
Mixing them with carrots and lettuce (plus some herbs), noone seems to mind the neighbours What to follow Onions with? Icon_lol

Sadly the rhodondendrons didn't survive the winter, hope the replacements for them will do well.
