This is one of the videos from the worldwide field testing playlist for square foot gardens and regular gardens. Some may recall the data collection started in 2014 initiated by Canada's own gardener Alberta Urban Garden Simple Organic and Sustainabe. they are collecting the data to their site. It still ongoing. I took this video from their site.

Post  has55 5/25/2017, 4:26 pm

Using the Aquajet to fertilized the tomatoes plants with Pacific Gro liquid fertilizer thus increase fungal growth beneath the surface. seafood for the soil I'm also using rice hull from a beer supply company to increase fungal growth on the surface and Dr. Ingham recommended when I had my soil tested. below this video is mark's video of the actual difference in plant growth between bacteria and fungal dominated soil. Seeing is believing.

has55's R & D Journey - Page 5 Empty Brand New GrowingYourGreens Aquajet Video

Post  toledobend 6/4/2017, 12:11 am

John from Growing Your Green YouTube channel has a brand new video on the Aquajet on 5/17/17.

The title is a little misleading because he gives his old Aquajet back to the manufacturer, and gets a new installation.

the title was misleading, but a good video. Robb the owner and developer is all about research and development.
I love the aquajet. i just completed 3 new bed and about to convert 3 20 ft bed to cinderblock and add the aquajet. there is a slight curve of learning to water underground and not see a pop up or drip irrigation. I leave it on for 1 to 2 mins.
I started with one SFG bed with the earthmister, before it was improved. then I went to 2 beds, then 4 beds, then a total on eight beds. I now have it in 15 beds and will soon be a total of 18 beds all in cinderblocks. four beds are still wood. the aquajet was a great breakthru and improvement over the earthmister. it much stronger on it delivery system. after having success with it in my garden bed, I put it in my flower beds and my entire front lawn.

has55's R & D Journey - Page 5 Empty Re: has55's R & D Journey

Post  has55 6/14/2017, 8:12 pm

continuing on with my tomato experiment. This year I chose to try mark's method from " I am organic", youtube channel.
1. I didn't pull off suckers
2. I let them go up the trellis then let them come down and spread.
3. I been watering approx every 3 days for 2-3 min with the aquajet. probably too long.
4. We have had some extra watering days that's been a deluge.
5. I forgot to fertilize, just starting with pacific gro..
6. I did add some fungal dominated material and earthworm casting from my in garden bed vermicomposting buckets at planting.
We are in the 90's degrees. tomorrow it will be 96 degrees.
7. I let the cover crop wheat go to seed because I was lazy. I will not add cover crops next year, but low-growing herbs within the bed that will develop mycorrhizae fungi and increase fungal to bacterial ratio.

8. so far this is the largest bonanza of tomatoes I ever had. We have gotten some of the very large tomatoes, which we never get because it gets too hot.
9. it did not stop the birds. my wife was getting upset because the success we're having with the tomatoes, but the birds were having breakfast, lunch, and dinner first. so up went bird netting.
this is the first time I use bird netting, it was not easy, but I know now how to do it next year and keep it simple. I used PVC pipe tubing filled with rocks and cap on the ends, then use snap clamps to fasten the netting to it, thus holding it to the ground.
10. we did get some insect attack on one tomato bed, which I started a thread about it, otherwise, the plants are doing well.
11. I took a couple of pictures but found the camera had difficulty showing all the tomatoes because of the bird netting. It wouldn't go into depth. I didn't want to go under it. Next year It will be easy to open and enter it.

I just look at the vertical growing with Jim Kennard. I did like that system last year. I was able to introduce more light to my plant. This tear I using the leaf mold and letting it grow. I think I will try using the vertical line with the leaf mold in my next experiment. Last year. I might have prune too much and had the disease issue. This year I made my soil more fungal-dominated and not having the disease issues.

I love your tomato jungle. I also like the more visible, and easier to handle, green bird netting. From my one experiment (this year), I think tomato jungles in hot dry areas keep the plants and fruits cooler. A micro-climate. I posted photos of my "tomato jungle" in the CA thread.

I found this article and youtube channel for when to pick tomatoes. We decided to go with this method. So we've removed the bird netting which was a pain to work with, but It works well. the birds left our area. we are not having any trouble since we started using this method.

Harvest Time For Tomatoes: When To Pick Tomatoes

and a youtube video that was helpful in reaching our decision.

I'm only about halfway through. It takes awhile to get started. It's a very in-depth video about soil health. I don't know if this was the same video, but it's definitely informative.
