Local grocers came through for me again.
Nine pumpkins now and many many more possibly in a few days.
I read where pumpkins are the best addition you can add to a compost pile, their nutrients are
more than any other item.
Chopped them up, covered with some straw and leaves..a beautiful fall day.

Jimmy, did you take the seeds out & roast them? Or are you going to have a bunch of volunteers next year, lol?

I composted a pumpkin a couple years ago.  Volunteers everywhere.  Also the seeds did not compost well.  I still see them around the garden from time to time.

The compost I'm using this year is loaded with composted pumpkins from last year.  My neighbor had about 20, all sizes and colors, for her fall outdoor decorations then brought them over to the pile in wheel barrows full.  What I didn't eat I composted.
What a Face
At least you chopped yours, Jimmy. I just waited for mine to melt and then shoveled them in.

I did have a couple of volunteers this year but the resulting 2 fruits are only about 4 inches across.

I never concern myself about seeds of any kind. Actually I enjoy pulling out plants that I do not want in my beds. As it stands now, I get very little strange growth, and if there are, mel's mix is so soft weeds almost pop out at me while I'm passing by.
Answer to your question, nope, I just toss the entire pumpkin in and chop it up..I have maybe 25 more coming Wed.

Interesting! I know some members dry them for flour and some can them.
