So I had some questions regarding peas and cucumbers.  In the ANSFG it says you can plant 8 pea plants to a square and 2 cucumber plants to a square. How does that work?  Does the trellis actually need to be going through the center of the square so you are planting 4 peas on either side of it?  If so, how does this trellis positioning affect other plants you plan on growing on the same trellis such as winter squash or tomatoes?

I almost always put my trellis in the middle of the square.  Peas grow better if grown up a trellis or supports of some kind and it is easier for them to attach themselves to a trellis if you plant them on both sides of the trellis.  Just kind of offset from each other in a zig zag pattern.

You can grown anything on the same trellis as long as the plants don't cover up the other plants growing.
