This year I tried a new Eggplant.  It is Patio Baby.  As long as I keep harvesting it keeps making more.  I usually pick them when they are about 3-4 inches long.  I don't even peel them.  I think I will plant these again.  In the past I always had to do the salt thing to take away the bitterness.  Not this variety.

You must feel very happy that you found a veggie that you want to continue with.

I must remember that name, Patio Baby.

Thanks for sharing this, greatgranny! I love hearing about what varieties people love (and why.) I was considering growing an eggplant in a container next year - this seems like a good variety to try for that. I've made a note on my shopping/wish list. Very Happy

I forgot to say that the plants are so heavy with fruit that they are hanging over the edge of the box.  I think for next year I had better get a tomato cage just for them.
Now, wondering what to do with so many at the end of the season.  Maybe I will slice and dehydrate them.

One year  I pickled them in a medley of carrots and zukes along with some store bought cauliflower.

I LOVE THIS FORUM! I love you Last week I read somewhere else that we should pick eggplants when they're young and small, so I did (1st year clueless Rolling Eyes ). I got chastised by Hubby who only knows from grocery store produce. "SQUAWK! TOO SMALL! SQUAWK!" I gave that one to our son and never got any feedback. Now I have another one about the same size -- about 4" -- so I decided to do a search over here before picking (the last article I read elsewhere didn't specify how young or how small.) Lo and behold I did it just right, so  Razz on Hubby!  thanks , GreatGranny.

WOW! I'm putting Patio Baby on my list for next year. The ones I'm getting this year are only 1 (maybe 2) per plant.

This year I didn't plant that variety.  I couldn't find it in the spring.  This year I have the normal ones that get large.  Still not ready to harvest.  Will try to find them sooner next spring.

I saw a recipe for eggplant bacon the other day... Marinated then dehydrated. I might have to try that....
