Re: Video of My SFG
Thank you for posting this- I especially appreciate you showing how you irrigate. We're doing our first SFG this year and that's the part we're especially stuck on- I think we'll do something similar to what you do. Looking forward to future videos!

Thanks! I do like to water my SFG by hand (using a wand that I keep close to the ground so as not to soak the leaves), but sometimes that just isn't practical - especiall when it's 105 degrees in July!
Good luck with your first SFG. I'm sure you'll love it. All the work is up front (setting up the beds, making the Mel's Mix, etc.) but after that it's fun!
Re: Video of My SFG
Nice video. I want to build more beds but my hubby says I have to make something grow in the ones I have first. He knows I bite off more than I can chew often.
If I do manage to get a good harvest and he lets me build more I think I'll use a watering system like yours. I'm up in zone 4 (N WI) so it's not as important.
I'll get my 3 year old to water the garden. Once he saw the garden (after the snow melted) he wanted to go get the seeds right away. I think it is so sweet he remembers it from last year. I guess that makes it worth it even though I killed everything in the garden.
Anyway, can't wait to see how it goes for you this year.

Hi Tim, really enjoyed the video and the way you have set up your garden with the long bed. I long for a much bigger garden area but my wife keeps telling me "there would be no room for the jack russell and besides you feed half the town now."
Also enjoyed your blog and have just started putting one together for myself. Our 4 boys all live over seas so want to be able to post pics of "Mum and Dad in the garden" along with updates on what we are doing.
I look forward to seeing your garden in full production.

Re: Video of My SFG
I told my husband about your watering system last night. He pointed out that if we cannot remove the hose before the freeze that it would damage it. So, that's what I get for marrying an engineer, always poking holes in great ideas. He thought it was a great idea for a Texan though.

I understand. I decided a long time ago that I could never live anywhere where they measure the snow in feet.

Thanks Ray. I've enjoyed the pics and reading about your set up as well. I visited Australia in '06. Landed in Sydney made may way down to Melbourne then up to the Blue Mountains before heading back. Only there for 15 days on a limited budget but I loved it. Great people. Would love to go back and get up north to Brisbane and maybe dive the reef. Someday soon I hope.
G'day.

I told Hubby while we were dating that I could tell he really wanted a WI girl so what did he do...he moved me to WI!! Now that I'm picking up the accent I think he is finally satisfied w/ me. I'm from Michigan...SOUTHERN MI however! It is so freaking cold here.
We talked about moving to TX last time he lost his job (or was it the time before that). My grandma lives in TX and miss her so much. He's a red head that burns easy and LOVES snow however. So I've learned to layer my clothes and enjoy snow shoeing.
