One year ago today I placed my first ANSFG boxes out on the lawn. (Pardon the finger in the corner - it was raining and I was trying to shield the barrel of the camera.)

And here they are today! (The ones with the 4 and 3 red WallOWaters.)

cheers Lookin' good! When you don't have to build boxes, you can spend more quality time on growing the veggies.  sunny

Yippy! Cake! With ice cream, of course, because it's just too hot here. My journal says that last year the 23rd of May has a low of 33-F... today's high was 88-F. What a contrast!

I was hoping this could be a thread like Tomato Tuesday. "How was this day last year for others?"  Tomato Tuesday seems to be in gallery showcase; General discussion might have been better since I'd guess year old photos aren't common; garden journals are much more likely. I tried typing something like this last night, but I wasn't making sense to myself, and there wasn't much of Friday left so I just went with what I had. Hopefully I'm making a little more sense now... it's too hot to think. The A/C is buried in the basement somewhere; didn't need it last year.

Good idea! By next Friday I might have it all together.

Thanks!  I like that idea. But there's so much more beyond boxes to build. I'm just in awe of all the things people on here build. It seems to take me four trips to the store to get anything done because I'm so inexperienced with building. The boxes had a price comparison trip, a failed trip because the rental truck wasn't available (we later figured out we could get a few 8ft boards inside the car, barely.) Then a trip for something to make the screw driver work with the screws. And a delay because the drill battery discharged. The hoop frame required a trip back to get different bolts because I guess 1/2" is the *inside* diameter, so "a little longer than 1 inch" bolts don't go all the way through two of them. And a trip back because I guess I bought the wrong thickness of PVC and one of them cracked in half upon being drilled. And another trip to get PVC for the middle because one on each end wasn't enough support for a 4x4 and the sides were blowing in too much. And a purchase of binder clips because my fabric wasn't long enough to have any to weigh it down with bricks on 2 sides... But I persevered and have boxes, and I have covers so I don't spend all my time picking cabbage butterfly larvae!  uphill and win

So, yes, I'm really looking forward to spending time with plants in the garden instead spending time at the home improvement store! But first... a quest to make some vertical garden thingies for the pole beans and tomatoes...   neener
