So I took 2 grocery bags with me on my morning walk today to fill with the rotten apples down the road for the new compost pile.  But I guess because of the storm 2 nights ago, a bunch of good apples were on the ground, too.  I ended up with 1 bag full of good ones and one of rotten ones.  I added the good ones to the already full 3 bags sitting on the garage floor.

Today at lunch I picked up Mom and 4 empty 2.5 gal buckets and off we went to get some rotten pears for the compost pile.  Again, due to the storm, we ended up filling  3 buckets with good pears and 1 with rotton pears.  There's already a clampack full in the fridge and a bowl full on the counter.
Shocked

I see some serious canning in my future...like this Sunday.  That way I'll have all the apple and pear innards for the new pile.

So now I have 1 bag of rotten apples and 1 bucket of rotten pears sitting next to 2 buckets full of seaweed, waiting, waiting, waiting...
for more leaves to fall.

Our temps are forecast to be 57 F for a few days next week.  And I am getting my snow tires installed on Wednesday.  They are going to melt in those temperatures.

One bucket of pears, one bag of apples down:New England, October 2015 - Page 4 Img_2024
Plus 4 pints not shown. A bottle and a jar of water kefir fermenting on the left.

Two buckets of pears and one more bag of apples to go.  Not today though...

CC - Water kefir?  What's that?  How do you make it?  How does it taste?  Any health bennies?

YES to the health bennies! Serious probiotic bugs! Great for plants and the compost, too.
Believe it or not there's actually a thread on this forum about it if you check the search or click below:
