I like fresh so much that it's hard for me to cook anything down, too. Before I give away my dragon tongue beans this year, I've asked if people like raw fresh beans. If not -- if they're just going to cook them -- I won't waste my best beans on them!

Gave away 5 pounds of cuc's and about that many tomatoes and my watercolor class today. Cooking 10 pounds of to be catsup. Will get it ready today and refrigerate it and process tomorrow. Big reduction but still have a lot.

Made the catsup this morning with 10 pounds of tomatoes, the recipe said it would make 4 pints but I made 5 + so I probably did not cook it down enough. It is really good though. I had a great idea for lunch today so going to the store for hamburger meat. Going to make hamburgers using my homemade catsup, my homemade mustard (which is so good my wife won't let me buy any), my homemade pickles and homegrown lettuce and tomatoes. I call that homemade. Laughing

If anyone wants the mustard recipe I'll be glad to share, you don't even cook anything, just use a food processor. I put fresh basil into it.

Yes, John, please post the mustard recipe under the recipe section. I never thought of growing mustard plants, not sure there is such a thing, so please add that info as an introduction to your recipe.

I'd love the mustard recipe.

Last year I grew red giant mustard and it was very successful, and very pretty too. Unfortunately, I'm the only one who likes spicy things in my family and among the neighbors, so I didn't grow it again this year. But I use regular mustard as a condiment by the gallon, so a good recipe sounds very interesting.

I am getting curious now too. I thought mustard was made from the seeds. I bet one could grow a bed of oriental mustard greens and radishes and let them bolt and collect the seeds for grinding. Is that what you are doing johnp?

No on the mustard growing just buy the seeds in bulk. Will post the recipe under mustard.
