Tiny black crickets!

Post  J Long on 6/19/2015, 10:35 am

Hundreds of 'em.  Are they a problem in gardens?  So far I can't find what's chewing on my beans, but I am flush with crickets!

Yeah, they aren't meat-eaters.

Yes.  Why not?  Many of us use that or something similar in getting pests off the plants.

Or we chase the flying critters (cabbage moths come to mind) around with tennis racket-looking bug zappers.   Laughing

Then, of course, is the official SFG nighttime slug hunting outfit:  slippers, robe, flashlight that attaches to the head, something to put the slugs in & drown 'em.

Love my new Dust Buster. bounce I have true bugs for the first time, nasty little plant suckers. The DB is great for collecting and them dumping the critters into soapy water. I realized last summer that the tennis racket style fly zapper didn't work on the white moths. They were too big to contact the inner shocking surface through the grating. Gave my husband some interesting time watching me try to hit them. Laughing Nice fly zipper though.

This is my super duper hand vacuum.  I only bring it out when things get real bad because it is actually part of my house vacuum cleaner and I don't want to take the chance of ruining it.  But I found a whole bunch of squash bugs that I didn't want to get away so I ran in the house real quick and grabbed this.  I have a regular dust buster that I usually use for normal infestations.  The only thing I can't vacuum up with either vacuum are the Japanese beetles.  They somehow cling to the vines and won't come off.
