To date (May 22) we have had 4.75 inches of rain, with some snow. Second wettest May on record.  I checked my soil temp. over a week ago and it was 54 deg. so I planted squash, cuc's, and another row of corn. The temp's. then went into the low 40's with highs of around 50 for the whole week. Nothing is showing up, probably to cold to germinate but do you all think anything will? Should I wait ( seventies and upper forties for the next week) or replant?

But on a lighter note three out of four herbs used for dinner last night ( KuKu), egg dish with potato, outstanding:Cold and rain Dscn0915
The missing parsley was to small so I had to buy it.

Do you mean the soil temps went down to 40 with highs of 50 or do you mean the air temp? What is the soil temp right now? It should of acted as a temp fly wheel and thus protected your seed.

I would dig down and look at a seed and see what shape it is in. If you find one starting to sprout, wait, other wise replant.

I have a chart (with tiny print Shocked ) that shows all these warm weather crops wanting a minimum soil temperature of 65 degrees. But when I look on farm services sites they say 50 for corn and min 60 for squash.

This May has seemed colder than April or even March was. Weird. But we needed the snow in the mountains.

With my Persian name I should know Kuku Very Happy I know Italian frittata which is very similar (I married an Italian and learned to cook from his mother) and I do do it with Persian spice mixes. LOL, apparently my inner soul is trying to tell me something. Thanks for the idea for tonight's dinner. Very Happy

Thanks Turan. I just went out and checked the soil temp. down about 3 inches and it was 76 degrees (first sunny day in many days) with outdoor temp at 70 degrees. Dug down to a corn kernel and it has sprouted so hopefully we are off and growing. Rolling Eyes In that egg dish we used 2 cloves of garlic, half cup of chive, third cup of dill, half cup of cilantro (needed more), and cup of parsley. We used 6 eggs one tea of baking powder and a tea of salt and some pepper. We cooked one large potato and then mashed it. I put one table of butter and one of EVOO in an 8 inch ovenproof pan and put it into a 350 oven for 10 min. We were to scared to heat a pan for that long and then pour the mixture in it after my Christmas explosion so we only heated it for 5 min. poured the mixture in and cook for 25 to 30 min. It is really good. We ate half of it last night and my wife had a piece this morning and said it was better because the herbs were much stronger flavor.
