Like Arnie ..I'm back !
Well folks I've been and had my spinal operation , twas exceedingly painful as I'm not allowed the usual sort of pain meds as they make me far too sleepy and slowed down , so I've not had anything save for a day on morphine .
This is the medical picture taken at day 8 to let the local nurse know how many surgical clips there are to take out . My cute little butt disappeared in to my back & legs , it's just starting to reshape . I can't sit for long or stand or lie ......it's a case of " Up , down , turn around , sit/lie on a bale of cotton" , so to speak and very tiring to say the least.
Thankfully things went well, I had such a compacted restriction in the L1/L2 vertebrae pressing on my spinal cord & nerves coming out of the vertebrae that the surgical team told me they have never operated on anyone who was so compacted and still able to stand .. So I guess I've been lucky .
My posts will be short and infrequent till I get a lot better and much more mobile /able to sit down than for a few minutes at a time .

Thank you for letting us know you had the surgery and are on the mend. Did the surgery go as planned? Will you have more comfort in the future because of the surgical procedure? I know you hurt now but when the surgical pain has gone, will you feel like a newish man? I hope you know what I mean.
Re: Like Arnie ..I'm back !
Ouch! That was very brave of you and a miracle you were still mobile. I know you probably didn't have a choice of whether or not to get the surgery because otherwise you would probably not have been able to walk in the future. Get better and don't over do it! So not good without some pain meds!

Good grief, man, where'd your bum go?
I couldn't tell on my little laptop what I was looking at. I had to get to my PC to see a larger picture!
I'm glad you're back. Here's hoping for many more years of less painful gardening and family time.

So very glad that you survived the surgery and are on the road to recovery. Hoping that this surgery does the trick and you are SOON a new man (as far as walking, pain, etc. go)

Glad to hear it is over, done, and you survived! Lots of wishes and prayers coming your way that very soon you will be less colorful and more mobile.

I wish you a pain-free future, Plantoid That does look painful, but any easing of the pain I am sure you will be thankful for.
Best wishes for the future.

Plantoid,
Best wishes for a healthy, ongoing recovery!
By the way, have you actually tried those pain meds? Different ones for different folks!
Also, I've noticed that in my case, when I'm REALLY in pain, I don't tend to slow down a great deal and can still function without falling asleep or getting groggy.

Yes, the doctors have tried all sorts on me & for this op said no pain meds other than a liquid morphine on day two . I already take two 5 mg tablets of morphine each day with my food .donnainzone10 wrote:Plantoid,

As for slowing down , of the last two given one nearly stopped my heart which caused a bit of drama in the hospital acccording to the guy in the bed next to me. The other caused me to vomit up 1/2 a pint or so of blood etc. as it caused my hiatus hernia to kick off yet again when I've been given oral pain meds and am not mobile .

It is International Naked Gardening day! Go take your sore bum and back gently out to tour the garden. And watch your difficult neighbor explode
I am taking your post as a sign you are feeling a titch better.

I dunno I'm a jumbo jet , I'm a jumbo jet , I'm a jumbo jet ...
The tablets are to help calm down peripheral neuropathy ( maddening pains in hands , arms , legs , feet and itchy skin ) that's been caused either by diabetes or by the spinal problems or both .
Once I'm well healed and much more mobile it's planned that I'll be taken off the tabs slowly using a liquid morphine in set amounts as I've been on the tablets for nearly four years. Instant stopping might just mean the same for me .
We'll have to suck it and see how it works out for I've also got a new left knee joint scheduled and there will not be any change in my meds till that is sorted.

Oh Dave, so glad you're back and posting. That photo is amazing. I didn't realize when you posted in the stevia thread about your loss of the plant that you had already had your surgery. I have a feeling that sometime in the near future you're going to be right as rain and glad you had that surgery.
Here's to a speedy recovery.
Onward ho!
