Electric Chipper for Composting

Post  CapeCoddess on 4/19/2015, 11:34 am

I was checking out electric chippers for yard waste online this morning.  Some of the reviewers state that they  use them to shred their vegetable garden waste, then add yard waste and use it all in the compost pile.  I think that that is a great idea! Has anyone tried it?  If so, what were the results? And do you have an electric  chipper that you recommend?

I do not have an electric chipper, but do have a gas powered Sears Craftsman that was purchased in 1998 and still runs like a little dream :-)

I have not used it for anything as light as kitchen waste however.  I'll watch this post with interest to hear how well the electrics might work.  Mine probably won't last forever!

I have a gas powered chipper from Harbor Freight.  Anytime I put anything in it that is very damp, it clogs the outflow holes.  So I would be wary of putting kitchen vegetable waste thru the chipper.
