Mel's Mix Supplies in Middle Georgia - Locations and Prices
Hi all you Middle Georgians!
Sometimes it's tough to find our MM supplies, so I'm going to list where I've found some good stuff as well as much they cost.
I purchased the following from Swint's Feed and Seed in Joneboro, GA:
VERMICULITE: 4 cu ft was 25.99 per bag
ORGANIC CHICKEN COMPOST: 20 quarts was 5.99 per bag
ORGANIC MUSHROOM COMPOST: 40 lbs for 4.99 per bag
BLACK COW COMPOST: 50 lbs for 4.99 per bag
ORGANIC COTTON COMPOST: 25 quarts for 3.99 per bag
Swint's also has earthworm castings, but they are 10.99 for a 3lb canister (that's a bit high). Phone number for Swint's is (770) 478-7034
Pike Nurseries in Peachtree City, GA has earthworm castings (about 1 cu ft) for 19.99 a bag. Phone number for Pike is (770) 632-9111
Lowe's in Fayetteville, GA has a 3 cu ft pressed block of peat moss for 11.97 per unit. Phone number for Lowe's at that location is (678) 817-9119
This year I'm going to try cotton compost instead of the vegetable/shrub/fruit compost from Pike because the last couple times I've gotten it from there, the stuff was full of stones and big twigs. It took me forever to remove that junk. I still need the earthworm castings, so I'm going to check out their veggie, etc. compost when I go there. Also, a dear young friend of my daughter has been collecting bunny nuggets for me
All these prices are as of 3/14/15, so you might want to call ahead to make sure if you need exact numbers.
