Where do you get your seeds from?

Post  grownsunshine on 5/28/2014, 12:57 pm

Hi Paintedlady. I've created a new topic based on your suggestion.

Does anyone keep seeds from your fruits/veggies to replant?

I've purchased seeds from HD & Armstrong. Based on suggestions on this forum, I bought seed from Seedexchange.com, ReneesGarden.com (persian cukes) and kale, fennel and a bunch of beans from Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Co.

I get almost all of my seeds from Baker Creek and Jung (local store).

I have purchased from Territorial and Botanical Interests and would buy from them again.  I try to get all my online seeds from one place in a given year due to shipping costs.  So between Baker Creek and having Jung Seed stores in our area I get everything I want.  I've also gotten some tomatoes via trade.

I've been getting most of mine from seedsavers exchange.

I am going to work on saving some of my own bean seeds this year and then expand from there at some point

Thank you!

I've purchased from Seed Savers before but this year got all my seeds from Baker Creek, except for my Marizol red tomato seeds from a friend. I bought tons this year--tomatoes, peppers, squashes, cucs, beans, eggplant, chard, lettuce, endive, romanesco, red cabbage, corn, onions, leeks, a bunch of herbs, and some different flowers as well. I probably forgot something but I went all out this year and tried to grow as much as possible from seed.

I've never saved seeds before, but this year plan to try to save a bunch. I have to learn how though. affraid

I've used Territorial Seed because they USUALLY have winterbor and redbor kale.  (sold out this year)  I've also used Southern Seed Exposure because they cater to my region and Totally Tomatoes for some interesting tomato varieties for hot climates.  Seeds of Change has started showing up at Walmart and the local nursery and I use them.  The local nursery also carries Weeks Seeds which is a local NC wholesale operation.

I'm all about heirlooms.  Mostly Baker Creek.  Some Burpee, a couple from Ferry Morse, seeds from some other folks on here that I trade with.

I try to just order from one catalog because of the shipping/handling.  Then this year it just was not going to work so I spent an inordinate amount of time working out how best to balance using Bakers Seeds and Territorial Seeds.  Then I buy local from Fisher's Seeds.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm always open to trades...

I've got a spreadsheet with all of my seeds.  PM me if you want it.

I have been around the horn with seed catalogs since last year.
I'm now settling in on Twilley's seeds from S.C.
They have worked the best for me so far..
