I need some info about these little cherry tomatoes?
I planted seeds back on February 8th and I have found they are very: EXTREMELY SLOW in maturing.  Can anyone tell me if this is normal for this particular tomato?
All my other tomatoes are growing like crazy, but the SS 100's are slow, very slow!  I have never experimented with this particular tomato, however, all my other 5 varieties I am trying this season are at least 3 times larger and more mature than the SS 100's.
Is this normal for this particular hybrid cherry?  Or did I just purchase some inferior seeds?
Would appreciate any input from others that have experimented with these little cherry delights, as I don't want to waste a growing season with bad genetics?  I still have time to replant more seeds.

I started two varieties about a week before you, Eva Purple Ball and Super Sweet 100's cherry. My super sweets are a fair but bigger than my Eva's. Hubby loves the Super Sweets... didnt plant any last year but planted one the year before and most of the time they didnt make it into the house before hubby had eaten them. I don't eat tomatoes, but am planting 3 Super Sweets for hubby this year lol. Anyway hoping this photo works SS100 on left and Eva on right (MIGHT show up sideways but you can still see the difference):

Carolina girl, they look like they need to be fed a weak liquid fertilizer. Please follow the label directions for best results. What a Face

Pitch post a photo if you can.

They look a little purple with a touch of chlorosis, at least that's what I see in THIS photograph.

I thought it might be the purple.  Last year all mine turned purple on the backs of the leaves but it was from the cold so I wondered if hers were cold.  I didn't know there could be an actual nutrient problem if purple was appearing.  Thanks for the info.

All my SS 100's are still only developed with the embryonic leaves of the cotyle, (very small and stunted) except for two plants which have some very small true leaves, but still very short and rather stunted.  All my different seed varieties were planted in the exact same type potting mix and have had the same light conditions and watering and they all have many well developed true leaves with plants approximately 5 inches in height..except that the Brandywines are a little slow too, but nothing like the SS 100's.
Does this sound like I just purchased some bad SS 100 seeds?  The packet showed they were for 2014 planting...
Guess the best thing to do is go buy another packet of SS 100's from a different source and start over again???
Any other ideas?  I hate to waste a whole growing season with plants that will not produce after all the trouble and effort involved to raise them.

Pitch, please post a photo if you can. Also give the plants a bit of weak fertilizer and see how they look in a few days.

Could be magnesium deficiencies, maybe try Epsom salts apply 1 tablespoon of Epsom salts mixed with a gallon of water as a foliar spray.

Yes this is a possibility, but I think there is more going on than Mg deficiency. At this point general liquid fertilizer should do it for a plant so small. Do not add epsom salt at all until you are transplanting.

I have already tried a very dilute mixture of tomato fertilizer.  Here are a few pics:
On the left are Brandywine and the right the Super Sweet 100's.
All were put in the peat on February 18th.

They look fine, don't overwater them and put the light closer. Some plants are just slower than others. Yes you might want to plant some more seeds of the 100s. Sow extra seeds. Wink

My packet of seeds is from last year (2013). I planted two seeds per peat pot. I actually separated some when I up potted them into real soil/compost and they survived. They didnt really start to take off until I up potted. Also the tall ones you see were actually started in potting soil, but have others that I started in peat pots doing equally well.

they should grow. Think of it this way, a tuna and a gold fish hatch on the same day, they are both fish, but one grows bigger than the other.

But because of your poor germination of the 100s you may want to consider getting some fresh seed, sooner rather than later.
