Hello all!  Any of you make compost tea out there?  I started to read about making compost tea and was surprised how much was involved.  One of my current composters is in a container above ground that I turn.  It got some water into it (OK, I poured a 2.5 gallon bucket of water into it because it was so dry) and the water drained out the bottom.  Well, I decided to collect it (my version of compost tea??) and started putting it on some of my fruit bushes this morning.  Is that alright, or should I be using stones, fish tank lines, and molasses as mentioned on some sites?  Does it really have to be that difficult?

Technically, what you're referring to is leachate, and not CT. Putting leachate on your fruit bushes shouldn't hurt anything.

CT is a very misunderstood topic in home gardening.  Without the expertise of a lab analysis, homeowners have no way of knowing what the content of their CT is, nor what the benefits of each batch will be when applied.

Opinions about how to make CT vary greatly among home gardeners, and most of the information is anecdotal. I suggest looking for information that is supported by verifiable test results.

Thanks Boffer for that. Duckie, if you want some more opinions and factual links you can use the search feature to find several back threads about compost tea.
