Mine have about 2 or 3 each...

Yes, CC on one plant this thing is another beast! We grew a beast last year in this same area (it's Not SFG). I literally stabbed a sucker from a SFG Brandywine in this area, and it's taken off like mad. Like you, my Brandywine in my SFG has 1 or 2 tomatoes. I will get an actual count again. It's so beautiful too, dark green and lush with nice flower blossoms. We also have a pumpkin plant growing 3" a day. My grandson and I measure it, so it's sorta fun to keep track. Good luck with your tomatoes

A friend who is gardening the same neighbor's plot that I am gave me what he says is commonly called and "eight-ball zucchini." It's a bit bigger than that; pretty cool to see that variation.

I had my first picking of Scarlet Runner Beans. They were small, but there are zillions more to come. These runner beans are my most profilic veggie since I started SFGing. Can I say I am getting a little tired of them? I wish my other veggies would do as well.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
It's a patty pan squash. I prefer mine on the smaller side. I try to get them before they get much bigger than about 3 inches across. You can also pick them when they are really small and eat/prepare them whole

NICE looking pattypan, which is my favorite next to zucchini.

Hey Rooster, how did you know your squash is a female and not a male?
CC, that's cute! But understandable...
...The pattypan squash is also known as scallop squash, granny squash, custard marrow, custard squash, or schwoughksie squash (pronounced "shwooxie squash"), especially if grown in the Poughkeepsie area.
Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Sorry, CC, looks like the joke's on me!
So I'll second CC's question: how do you tell? These are Peter Pans.

According to this seed supplier:
49 days to harvest. Peter Pan Squash Seeds produce uniform, light green 2.5 to 3 in. scallop squash with deep, meaty flesh and a creamy, nutty flavor. Also known as patty pan squash. AAS Winner

Oh my goodness I have tons of tomatoes! Not much cucumbers or green beans this year however, I'm bummed about that.
I am "sun drying" a bunch.
I am making freezer tomato puree
and I am on a juice fast so I'm juicing a bunch and making my "famous" Guaca-mato juice:
I use a cuisinart smart stick and blend
1 peeled ripe avocado
about 10-12 roma tomatoes
2 tsp Tajin Mexican seasoning (found in the real Mexican food section of our California groceries) It's a chile lime type mix
1/2 tsp garlic salt
Blend until completely pureed... mmmmmm....!!!
Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
I finally ate something out of the garden that wasn't swiss chard..... Had kale with supper. I think that is me moving in the right direction.

We picked about 40 bell peppers from the garden and stuffed them last night. They are in the freezer waiting to be finished using the foodsaver. Sure is nice to have around.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Saturday morning I put up two quarts of fermented cucumbers for the first time. I did the half sour and they should be ready in two weeks. In the afternoon we made a big bowl of Curtido which has cabbage, carrots, red onion, cilantro, Serrano peppers, Mexican oregano; all from the garden and a fermenting mixture of salt, vinegar and water. This salad has no oil so it's really healthy an it goes really well on fish tacos. We will have it for dinner with BBQ ribs. This morning we roasted two pans of tomatoes and picked a lot of lettuce. We will give our neighbor a bunch for fresh eggs.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
The turnip greens turned into three good portions. Tomorrow I will have the turnip bulbs boiled with a little salt and butter. -- Yum!
The herbs on my deck have done better than the ones in a semi-shaded area and the ones in my SFG that were crowded by marigolds and/or eaten by rabbits.
I forgot to photograph a couple of really good green peppers before I chopped them up and tossed them into tonight's chicken. Less than 5 minutes from stem to pot -- now that's what I call fresh!

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Pulled 3 pounds and one ounce of yukon gold potatoes. The biggest ones were 13,10, and 7 ounces. So far there's 14-1/4 pounds from five squares. Eleven more squares to go with more yukons, mid season yellow finns, and late season german butterballs. Last year I think I got closer to 5 pounds per square, I'll blame the slower growth on this years messy spring weather that frosted off the initial plant growth. All the plants had to start over. Even with the yield being lower this year I'm pleased enough at this time to have pulled more than the 10 pounds of seed potatoes I started with. And remind myself it's home grown organic too.

I only replied Off Topic because of Rooster's bean photo: My dragon tongue bean seeds arrived! And the Amish paste for next year.
Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
I guess tonight was grilling night:
'Lebanese White Bush Marrow' squash.
Verdict: quite creamy in texture (harvested at about 6" long), but inherent-flavor-wise a bit bland. Next time I'll add some seasoning to it before I grill it. I usually only coat with olive oil when I'm grilling veggies, but this one needs a little boost of flavor to make it really stand out. All in all, though, this variety has been the most productive this season, so I think it's a keeper.
