I was trying to plan out my fall SFG using a little graph I drew and a companion planting guide from Burpee's website but I got confused.

For peas, it says onions and garlic stunt their growth but chives are beneficial. I have onion chives and garlic chives, no plain chives. Do you think the fact they are onion/garlic chives make a difference? The beneficial part is they supposedly deter aphids. Not sure how much they help but any help is better than none, I'm thinking. Anyone know?

Apparently I stumped the panel. study   Oh well, I guess I'll just have to experiment and see what happens.

Hi, My question is what do you mean by onion chives? do you mean scallions aka green onions. I think that onion chives is plain chives, unless you mean scallions. I have a large patch of chives, and garlic chives, and I also grow scallions.

I would say either chives or garlic chives would be fine, but they are perennial so remember that when you are planting them.

I hope that helps.

That's what the pack says, onion chives. They are supposed to taste and smell oniony like the garlic chives are supposed to taste and smell garlicy. Both are new to me so I don't have more info than that.

I think I will just treat them like chives and ignore the onion and garlic part.

oh, yes they are just plain chives then, except the garlic ones. Lol. They are fun to grow and have beautiful purple flowers in the spring. but remember they are perennials so put them in a spot you want to keep them for a long time.
