Is 7 hours of sun enough

Post  lifelovepassion on 6/8/2013, 9:27 am

I am planning to fill my SFG boxes today and plant, but one box only gets 7 hours of sun, the other will get about 8. Is this enough?

sounds just right to me...is this morning or afternoon sun? It does make a difference because the afternoon sun is hotter.

It will get some of both morning and afternoon. One box starts at about 7:30 am with sun, the other at 8:30 and the west ends start to get shade again between 3 and 3:30.

Growing crops is as much about plenty of day light for 7 to 12 hrs. a day as it is about hours of direct bright sunlight .
Come a few really hot airless days you'll be happy some of your plants have a slightly shaded aspect .. tender salad plants tend thrive in slightly shaded areas rather than in vicious bright sunshine lasting for hours on end .
