First SFG - Northern KY Area.
SFG that got planted over the weekend. Hopefully not too late! Just put the fence up last night. Still need to get the trellis at the ends.
Salad table got planted on 5/15/2013. I'm thinking my soil was not right! My husband said things should be bigger by now. I've not lost hope.
Tomato plant on the back porch. Looks good to me.
Any advice? Thanks, Kristie

Looks good!
And it's never too late. I planted out a 4-sisters on 6/1 -- corn, beans, squash and sunflowers. They are doing great.
As for the things not growing well yet, I have gotten in the habit of doing a soil test on every bed -- just to make sure nothing is too far off. Soil tests are relatively cheap if you get the kit from Lowe's.
Tell us about the ingredients of the bed you're concerned about -- what brands of compost and did you fluff your peat moss and what percentages did you use?
But it's looking good!

Re: First SFG - Northern KY Area.
Thanks!
The tomatoes and SFG are all @ 1/3 of compost, vermiculite and peat moss.
The salad table was what ever I had on hand. I don't think it had any compost, vermiculite or peat moss. Probably just top soil/garden soil. I was in too big of a rush to get it done and didn't wait until I had the above mixture. It is on the back porch so maybe it doesn't get as much sun as it should? I water it almost everyday.

Bed looks great... It's never too late! The salad bed might have something to do with the ingredients... My lettuce doesn't want to grow either, but it is in MM so idk...

Everything is growing like CRAZY in the SFG! I made my husband come look and he said I don't know what mix of soil you have in there but WOW! The salad table is trying to get there. The lettuce is doing okay in the table.

Re: First SFG - Northern KY Area.
I know. I forgot to take a picture over the weekend. I'll try to either tonight or tomorrow. We are supposed to have off/on showers today. I'm wondering how quickly I need to get my trellis up?

I have cucumbers and beans at one end and zucchini and squash at the other end. They are just sprouts right now.

If they are just sprouts, you have some time... I would get it up in the next couple weeks. The beans will probably need it first.

Here's the pictures ~ 9 days after I planted most of the plants.

Below are the radishes and jalapeno:

Re: First SFG - Northern KY Area.
I have around 7- 9 open. Couldn't think of anything else to plant. I've got lettuce, carrots, parsley, oregano, cilantro spinach, basil and onions that are starting to pop thru. Hard to see in the pictures.

Somebody on here told me to think about what produce you bought the last time you went grocery shopping. That helped me fill a couple.

That's kinda what I did and I looked at a list of veggies. I guess I could plant some more carrots I have some more coming up later.

Re: First SFG - Northern KY Area.
You could plant some more carrots this week then more next week and so on, so you can have carrots all the time...

update 6-24-13
So while on vacation last week it looks like the garden did good but there may have been some animals eating on my beans and such.
Still think it looks pretty good for my first SFG!
Below is a picture of my green peppers that I accidentally planted on top of my onions. Should I pull all the onions and restart or leave them? Thanks!
