Can anybody give me an identification on this volunteer?

The plant currently stands about 2-3' high. As you can see it's setting up to flower, it kind of looks like they'll be yellow.

I wonder if it's a dahlia (I've had all sorts of strange volunteers due to the parrots and compost the landscaper used) or if it's some other California 'weed' flower.
