Silly question
I got my tulle to put on my beds, should I go through and try to pick out any bugs I see or is there something I can do to make sure I'm not just locking in all the bugs to the salad buffet?

Re: Silly question
I don't think it would hurt to use an organic deterrent like a homemade brew of onion, garlic and peppers or orange oil before covering if you suspect some little devils are already eating your plants. Just be sure to uncover your plants that need pollination when they are ready. I just saw a couple cabbage moths fluttering around today and am about to go cover my brassicas. We had a fairly mild winter again, so I'm preparing for war against pests this year.

Re: Silly question
I've got these little green ladybug beetles enjoying my lettuces! And I've found little orange eggs on some of my leaves.

Re: Silly question
Oh no! Those guys are BAD news and have attacked me heavily each year. I was successful with neem oil last year, but you really have to stay on top of it. The bad part is, neem oil seemed to also kill off my ladybugs and deter the pollinators....not good. I'm going to try to use my homemade (garlic, onion, pepper, dish soap) spray regularly this year and coat some yellow plastic cups with tangle foot to try to get a grasp on these guys this year. We shall prevail!

Re: Silly question
I squished one, cut up an onion out by the beds and threw small chunks all over in there, who knows if it'll work hah. I didn't see any more while digging through though, so hopefully they were all out on a "walk" or something. One of my plants was like, completely molded out at the bottom, so I pulled it all out and cleared out any limp leaves :/
