Plantoid,
According to Bentley Christie, adult worms introduced to a rabbit urine environment would die either from the salt or the ammonia. What has most likely happened, as the cocoons hatched, the redworm babies adapted to conditions that would be unfavorable and kill the adults.

Do the materials the urine is soaked in factor in in any way?

Thanks LM ,
The worms were not introduced into rabbit urine but into a mix of loads of pellets bits of waste meal food damped daily with rabbit urine . The rabbits were caged above the floor at about 36 inches up . The majority of the urine would have seeped down through it to the floor drain systems .

Neither were the sheds particualrly smelling of ammonia , in fact as membership secretary of the commercial rabbit association I only ever came across one set up that caused me any eye or lung discomfort .

I guess lots of thought by all concerned had gone into the farmed production of the worms on the live rabbit muck .

Pretty amazing how adaptable red worms can become. So the ammonia adequately gassed off and the sheds had ample ventilation I suppose, and the urine seeped through without killing them somehow, (lots of carbon maybe) amazing...wow, my first thought is the worms should be goners. I've also been learning how the c/n ratio is so important in the beds while the worms cold compost wastes. Thanks Plantoid it's fun to learn these things.
