Compost Not Heating Up
In the last two weeks I have received 11 inches of rain and compost pile went cold. I have removed everything from my bins and have spread the pile out to allow the material to dry out. I have also thought of adding cow manure to try and jump start my pile. Any Suggestions?

Re: Compost Not Heating Up
welcome to the forum.
Along the left side of this page there are "hover" topics among them is "compost 101" great info there another great topic is "Are you a hottie"( referring to hot composting). That being said, I to have had rain cooling issues. If you will add rabbit or cheap dig food and blood meal to your pile when rebuilding the heat will come. I have resorted to covering my piles with plastic to keep the excess water out. The compost action works better if you do not use city water when building your piles. Remember to use the search box on the left side to find additional threads on any subject.
Good luck with your composting and gardening.
