Congratulations LLM
Just think, you can now start collecting this years ingredients Laughing

You'll find that if you're just after a few worms to kick start worm tubes or make a wormery a few that you find as you move compost around will soon multiply in the right conditions.

My lidded bottomless Dalek bins have many many worms moving through the moisture droplets on the inside of the lids.

Yesterday I counted 43 worms on just one inside of a lid , there was also a slack handful of them trying to circumnavigate the inner wall.

Love the idea, last year I put a shoebox in the ground with a couple holes, filled it with worm food goodies and collected those worms for my worm tubes and they multiplies all summer long. rock on

Hi GWN - You are right!
Since November, leaf corral #1 was filled to the top 3 times already. If I remember I'll take another picture the middle of Feb.
Stay tuned Wink

I haven't been troubled to bag any leaves this year, but this is about a 4th of my leaves. Closest to the camera they're above my knee. Furthest from the camera, near the gardenias, they're above my waist ...and I'm 6'2".

I'm just waiting on the city to come suck them up! If anyone would like some, they're yours. Leaves, compost, leaves... - Page 10 Leaves10

Boy I go away from the computer for a day and look what you did LlamaMomma! Every picture I looked at my mouth fell open more and more. It is down around the floor right now, lol! You did an amazing job! It sure looks like you will be ready with plenty of compost come Spring! I was thinking how could you still have some green grass and non-snow covered ground. We have had continual snow on the ground since before Christmas and last night's temp went down to -4 degrees. I am so envious of your weather right now for building compost piles. You are sure getting a nice workout because it works out so many areas of your body!

Your Llamas look so nice in the background! I have to go look at your pictures again, lol!

That sure is a massive amount of leaves! Have you thought of putting a free ad in the paper or somewhere saying you have leaves. You have such an amazing amount and probably get more than your fill every year, but there may be others who have very little or none that would love them! Just from what I can see of your yard and trees, it sure looks peaceful and relaxing!

I just put an ad on freecycle asking about needing leaves.
All my son has is pine needles, lots of pine needles. Too much for the compost pile.

Triciasgarden - thank you for your kind thoughts. That green grass was under about 7 inches of snow right around christmas for 2 weeks. Then there was a few warm days and the it all melted and the grass greened up. Weather was so warm that Jan12 I picked a dandyline out of the lawn after playing in the compost heaps. The weather here is crazy, it's the only place I've lived where it has thundered while its snowing What a Face and the sun can shine while its raining. No The llamas are pretty neat kids, they bring a sense of peace, we can see them all the time. We lined the back of the house with almost a dozen windows. Rick and I were going for tranquility in our advancing age but wanted to have plenty of outdoor fun-work to keep us fit. This is working so far.. Smile sometimes its too much but it's never boring.
