Spider Webs?? Empty Spider Webs??

Hi, I have a copious amount of spider webs (and spiders for that matter) in my garden.. I can hardly go anywhere in the garden without running into some silk. My question is, are they beneficial? If not, how do I get rid of them?

I love spiders in my garden. I even bring them out there from inside the house. I heard they are beneficial but I don't know why exactly. Maybe someone else can help us out with that.
