earwigs, earthworms, & eggs on peas
Just got in from planting and harvesting in the on/off rain! Fun stuff! Lots of lettuce, sugar snap peas.
On to my questions:
I occasionally see earthworms, regular old earthworms. They don't hurt anything, do they?
While harvesting the lettuce, for the first time I ran into earwigs. Do I do anything about them? Or are they live-with type pests?
Finally, my sugar snap peas are doing pretty good, at least to the eyes of this first-timer. In fact the vines are about a foot above the trellis. So two questions:
- What do I do about the tall reaching for the sky vines???
- And one of the peas I harvested had this on it. Do I panic? What is it?

Re: earwigs, earthworms, & eggs on peas
earthworms are your gardens best friend!
i think the eggs might be ladybug eggs.....if so then yipppeee they too are friends of the garden ...i would put that pea some where outside to let them hatch
our sugar snap peas always out grow our trellis....as long as the peas dont grow to far over they should be fine.....if they grow to much they might bend over the trellis.....this has happend to us when we planted some peas that said they only grew to four feet....so we planted along our five foot fence....well....they grew past that fence and bent over the fence and the tops pretty much were broken....so we cut the tops off because they hung over to our neighbors rose bushes.....
hugs

thanks family gardening, I would never have known that those were lady bug eggs.
Warbler, sounds like you have a great garden, and your pests sound more like friends.
I have heard that ear wigs in large numbers can be a problem, but really as long as your plants are happy, it seems that there is no reason to be dealing with anything..... Don't worry, be happy
