Thanks guys...and it tasted amazing! Gonna have to bake up some rye bread. One of my favorite sammys is tomato (lightly salt & peppered) & provolone on rye with Rhinegeld German Mustard-YUM!

Finally have some maters on the vines. 3 of the 6 plants have actual tomatoes! Unfortunately I did NOT bother to see which plant it was! DUH!

Like most of you, my tomatoes have been hit hard by the heat in the area (southwestern Ohio/100+ temps for the past week).

I have nine volunteer Yellow Pear vines with plenty of fruit. None of them have ripened yet, but when they do, I'll be there waiting (if the squirrels don't get them first). hungry

My Brandywine and Cherokee Purple both have lots of flowers, but no fruit yet! I was looking forward to the legendary taste of homegrown tomatoes, but so far, no such luck!! Also having a heck of a time keeping the squirrels out of my tomato beds. Have tried spraying a homemade pepper spray on them, but the squirrels keep coming back. Sigh!

Well I've finally got my avatar changed. Between holiday and early week company, I neglected a lot of chores and now I'm playing catch up. These are some of my Early Girl tomatoes. No, that red color is not ripe tomatoes, its a strip of cloth I used to tie the plant up. I did have fresh tomato sandwiches for lunch today, but unfortunately not from my garden. When my brother came to visit last Sunday he had three almost ripe tomatoes, so he brought them along. He lives in Baltimore which is about three hours south of me. I have loads of tomatoes on my vines, but none ripe yet. I also have an eggplant about 2-1/2 inches long and several smaller ones. Probably will have wax beans soon, but not ready yet. also beets and turnips are about ready for harvest. I see a few female cuke blossoms, but I don't know if there are any male blossoms to pollinate them. No sign of the little cukes growing yet. My spaghetti squash is about 15 inches tall, but no blossoms yet. Pole beans are about 5 feet high so far. Peas have blossoms. Two bell peppers are the size of a small peach, and there are several smaller ones. Cubanelle peppers are about 1-1/2" long. My marigolds and geraniums are georgeous with loads of blossoms. Considering my late start, my garden is doing quite well. Very Happy Very Happy

These were my tomato plants on Memorial Day weekend. I cheated and put them out before Easter because we'd already had our first 90 degree day by then. We only had one threatened frost after Easter, and a light cover was sufficient. By the way, I'm no midget at 5'6".

Beautiful plants, Mama! Mine 9 plants aren't tall and bushy like that at all. They range from 1 ft tall to a spindly 4 ft.

Welcome, rootdude! Nice maters! I have Best Boys also but the 3 of them have only 1 green tomato between them. Honestly, I was looking at houses for sale in NC the other day after seeing how far ahead of NE you guys are.

Sungolds are the only ones we've eaten so far, and only 5 of those, but they have oodles of babies and flowers:
