Dill plant
I have 1 dill plant in my SFG. I would like to do something with it. Never had much luck with dill pickles and have tried many recipes over the years. Thought I would just dry it and make some dill weed or something but I'm not exactly sure which part of the plant to do something with? There's the top part - looks like a broccoli crown and what you usually see stuffed into homemade pickle jars. Then there's the hairier bottom stems. Need some help here.

Re: Dill plant
Use the lower fine leaves to put in a dill sauce for fish:
1/2 cup sour cream (or 1/2 sour cream, 1/2 mayonnaise)
1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard (or more to taste)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons chopped fresh dill leaves
I like to put some dill fronds in the poaching water/wine mix for salmon, along with some chopped shallots and 1 smashed garlic clove. Serve with dill sauce along with fresh peas, new potatoes and a salad. Dinner's on.

Re: Dill plant
Dill is also good sprinkled on sliced tomatoes or cukes with a little olive oil.
And there is a cucumber recipe that is essentially thin sliced cukes, vinegar and either yogurt or sour cream and dill. It marinates for a long time and is excellent. It has a name which I forget right now.

Cucumber/sour cream/dill sidedish
Chopper, does this sound like the recipe you remember? If so, wonder if homemade chive blossom vinegar would give it another layer of flavor?

•pepper
•1 1/2 tablespoons fresh chopped dill

Re: Dill plant
one of my favorite "recipes" is to blanch green beans, drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice, then sprinkle dill over it. this dish makes me feel like summer even in december.
Re: Dill plant
Sour cream dill recipe above with blanched aspagus is sooooooo yummy. Also make garlic butter (or olive oil) add dill and put on steamed red potatoes. You can add it to potato salad, deviled eggs, salmon, Chicken and several Greek recipes use dill. Hope that helps.
