Over-Fertilization = Blossom End Rot! Oh noes!
Hey Guys,
I used the search function and read up on what people have said about BER in the past, but I was wondering if there's anything special I should do if I'm fairly sure it was caused specifically by over-fertilizing? I have a few tomato plants in 6 gallon pots and I gave them some granular organic fertilizer a couple weeks ago, having forgotten that I'd added some when I planted them not long before that. The leaves getting curly/leathery/blue-green made me realize my mistake so I watered them heavily a few days in a row to flush some fertilizer out. The foliage seems to be getting better but I noticed yesterday that my baby tomatoes are showing early signs of BER. Will my chosen calcium source be sufficient to solve the problem or is there anything extra I need to do since it's from over-fertilization? Thanks for any tips! Have a good one.
Mike

I am not a tomato expert, but I think blossom end rot can be caused by inconsitent watering, not necessarily having "hot" soil. It can also be a lack of calcium.
