soooo.... if you save the seed from your Yukon Gold potato you have the possibility of 66 to the something or other variation.

Very interesting, thanks. It could be fun to try to get something from these seeds, but probably not be worth my time to risk ending up with something inferior from its genetic past.

they are like apple pips ... you'll never know what you'll end up getting unless you are making strict accurate records and keeping the environment almost sterile .
