Garden consultants

http://www.jsonline.com/features/homeandgarden/growing-power-green-team-lend-hand-to-local-gardeners-gt55kam-149701415.html

That article appeared in Sunday's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. I read the article twice yesterday and once again today, because I was surprised that people will pay a company to build a garden. $38 for weekly gardening tending, though? Seems that it would be cheaper to go to the farmer's market each week.

Growing Power is a Milwaukee-based organization that includes urban farming, farm stands, education, outreach. It's a really neat organization.

Some folks like to show off a garden, whether they work in it or not. I used to work for a gardener that did that sort of thing. Very Happy I learned so much on that job.

Lots of folks have lived in the city for generations and don't even remember having a garden in the family, ever. But, as folks realize that additives, preservatives, and gmo's are bad for you, and they haven't a clue, they'd rather pay someone else, to grow the good food/do the gardening, so the paid cook can fix better food, for the folks that have plenty of money to spend.

Here, even at the farmer's market, if you ask about the use of GMO's or whether the produce is grown organicly, before you know it, the folks quietly put their produce in their vehicles and are gone from there. A lot of the produce here is done the GMO way!

That's so crazy! I guess I've always been a do-it-yourselfer and love the challenge of figuring out things and learning new skills. But I bet for some people, it's too much for them to learn and do on their own. As the old saying goes, time is money, and they would rather spend the money than the time.
