Sunscald on green beans
Hi everyone! This is my first year doing a vegetable garden and we're doing square foot. I planted some bush green beans (Contender Buff Valentine) a few weeks ago and they keep getting sunscald on the leaves. The plants seem pretty healthy otherwise. The new leaves are ok but once they grow and get to full size, they turn light brown and crunchy. I really think that sunscald is the problem. I've been cutting off the damaged leaves but as soon as the next set gets nice and big they get damaged too. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Should I pull them up and replant? Maybe a different type of bush beans? I greatly appreciate any advice!

Welcome to the forum! Are you watering at the soil level or are you giving the plants a shower when you water? the ideal is to gently give water at soil level. Would you be able to post a photo?

Re: Sunscald on green beans
Thanks for the welcome! I've been lurking and getting lots of information for a few months from this board but I haven't needed to post until now. I've been having a hard time with aphids (which is a whole different issue. Haha!) so I sometimes hose off the leaves trying to knock aphids off. But otherwise I avoid wetting the leaves. I'll have to try and figure out how to post a picture.
