I posted a reply and quoted a bit of text. It was all too small to read, so I hit edit and tried to change the text size. I highlighted all the text, and tried to make it all medium. With a preview, it still was not big enough, so I tried to make it all large (using the button at top of page for the text) Well, it enlarged the text to readable, but, is there a way to make it all the same size? It just enlarged the text, but it is different sizes, for it was different sizes when written.

Maybe I missed it? Maybe I'm asking the impossible?

Thanks, Jo Ann

From what I can tell, and Boffer or Rooster probably know more than I do, once you try to resize something, it will put an html tag before and after the text you selected to resize... So it will say something at the front like "size=18" in those funny square html brackets, and at the end like "/size" again in those brackets.

But if you try to CHANGE the size, it doesn't remove the old tag - it just adds a new one. I think that might be why it's so difficult to adjust the size and why things get so mixed up.

What I do, is just delete out any size tags including the brackets as listed above, both the size=# and the /size (in the html view) and then just select the whole text again and choose the size I want.

But Boffer or Rooster might have an easier way..... Smile

Thanks, but what I did does not give you a size, just sm med and lg. I'll try to do it in this post .

It seems to work in a brand new post. Will try to edit this post and see what happens.

I guess it is not a fault of the forum, I was just trying to make all the text of my post to be all the same size, just to suit me and make for easier reading. It does not work if the text is already the wrong size, then pasted into a post.

I'm too used to using editors that will change the font at will.

Here is the thread I was refering to.

I'm not sure I'm following exactly what you are wanting to do? If you are talking about resizing the text for the whole forum, try your Web browser to increase font size.
I do know some forum software will allow you to set a color and font and text size for all your individual posts. Our free software does not.
You could but you would have to do it manually to every post.

Littlejo - I went in and edited the html a little bit and I think made it clearer as to what you were trying to ask. I'm happy to do that in these cases where it gets confusing. TO VIEW small posts - I do usually just change my browser zoom. But I know you were trying to actually work with the post and quote it and add your own text.

Rooster - I think what is happening is that when people "quote" others, the html font and size tags (in this case font type was an issue too) are retained in the post.... Then when the new poster wants to edit font and size or add their own text, it doesn't actually REMOVE the old tags - so say the original poster used calibri 18, and the new poster wants to use a different font...some things still remain in calibri because it won't automatically remove the old tags.

I'm not aware of a way to describe simply how to do this...I've not been able to do it without going in and removing all the old html tags..... which is what I did in the post referenced by LittleJo. Smile

Oh, ok. Thanks UTBW. Yes, in order to accomplish that, you will need to know what to look for html wise. You would have to copy and paste it and edit the text.
