This is how I fed chubby chumpkins, I used seaweed fertilizer in the soda bottle. I put the wick in the leaf joint just before the pumpkin.

I am just now getting a couple of pumpkins on the vine, none of the female blooms made it. It is pretty late to even try now, but I'm still going to let them grow and see what I get. At the state fair, the biggest one was 74 lbs....look out next year!!!

I'd call your method a stroke of genius! Do you think it might work on squash, cukes, or any other crops?

Update: two pumpkin vines with one pumpkin on each vine. Could only get one to survive per vine. Strange to me how each new pumpkin seemed to be the death of an existing and seemingly healthy and older pumpkin. Evil or Very Mad

Fed up with that, finally tied a knot at the end of each vine and let the remaining one do what it wants. Daydreamer and Edie are doing well for now. Take pictures and measurements later on and post in the near future as my computer is suppose to come back from the shop today or tomorrow.

Say Roooster..... we don't

have any pumpkin emoticons ?? Sad

Suppose to be 'big stuff' Dill's Atlantic Giant Pumpkins.
I'm happy they're alive but not impressed with the size, maybe come October I'll be impressed :scratch:
...yes, there is some mid day heat and wilting going on..morning and evenings the leaves look very perky.

Look at the size of these leaves! I think it's a pumpkin plant. The vine is about 20-30 feet long? Loving the dark green leaves and how massive they are!!

Wick feeding can be done on all sorts of crops but appears to be most sucessful on marrows melons and other curbit families.

Why not experiment for yourself .....you may find with using a good quality MM that stem feeding gives you humongous produce.

Feeds can also vary but they are usually similar to any liquid manure feed solution.

Do be careful to only use bacterially dead feeds if you are hoping to eat the results . i say this ....... for years ago we were warned by the chief medical officer , of the locals on the island where I was playing of them using neat untreated sewage water to wick into their water melons to get big sizes as they sold them by weight . It frequently gave anyone eating them the screaming runs etc. for a week or more.

I used liquid seaweed fertilizer on mine, you can use milk to so I've read. I first tried wicking it from a small dish but I kept finding the wick out of the dish the next day, so I made the soda bottle set up and that worked good, and kept the wick in place. Very Happy

I've read that kelp is a good fertilizer to use too.

I noticed right away you have nice color on yours. Mine are more yellowish and wonder if that indicates a problem. :scratch:

Exactly why I never eat a watermelon overseas that is sold by weight, only by each whole melon.

The biggest of my Brandywines yet. This is the 18th one I picked. Took it out early - so not quite ripe enough to roast or eat. I am saving seeds for sure. Weight - 1 lb 12.3 oz

Yes, I did see those huge beans. Never in my life have I seen anything like it. I may have to attempt them myself.

Cool, and it grew by 35 pounds a day, holy schmoley. Both of mine together probably won't tip 35 pounds for the whole season.

boys and girls : camprn that record did not last long a guy up at topsfeild fair knocked that record out of the water . the new record pumpkin is 2009 lbs
also a few weeks back a guy in Italy beat water melon record of 289 lbs and broke 326 lbs

if you want beat a record, the tomato record is still firmly set a 7.75 lbs and has held since 1986
