It's a sun thing...positions and all.

<<...At an equinox, the Sun is at one of two opposite points on the celestial sphere where the celestial equator (i.e. declination 0) and ecliptic intersect. These points of intersection are called equinoctial points: classically, the vernal point and the autumnal point. By extension, the term equinox may denote an equinoctial point.

An equinox happens each year at two specific moments in time (rather than two whole days), when there is a location (the subsolar point) on the Earth's equator, where the center of the Sun can be observed to be vertically overhead, occurring around March 20 and September 22 each year...>>

You guys make things too complicated over there!

Here the 1st of September is the start of spring, 1st December is the start of summer and so on and so forth. The equinox is just the equinox, doesn't have anything to do with the change of season.

Spring! Yay! Weather.com predicts a high of 83 here, which would set a record. Our average high is 50 degrees. The last two weeks of winter here, felt more like summer. I have to keep reminding myself we'll get normal spring weather soon.

Well... someone forgot to tell the weather-maker that it's spring here. It's blustery (again) and raining (still). Mad

I think we hit spring a couple weeks ago. Been solid 70s and 80s for awhile now.

Every flowering tree has been in bloom for at least two weeks. My explorer is a usually a dark greyish... now the hood is solid yellow Evil or Very Mad. I saw something in the news about the pollen count breaking the old record by 35% Shocked.

Its 70*F right now, an unusually high temp for the First Day of Spring in 5a, but I'll take it. Plans to be out in the garden, getting organized for the new season now that the ground isn't soggy.
