Re: New to SFG
Very ambitious. Only word to the wise I could offer is make sure the Mel's Mix is as stated in the book. It is worth your while to do that right now - you will not regret.
And when you are done - post pictures!

As Chopper said, make sure your Mel's Mix is by the book. Much better to do it right the first time. I hope you have finished reading Mel's ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING book that was published in 2006. The improvements are amazing. No digging or double digging, no amending, next to no weeds, the simple life for me.
This forum is a great supplement to the book. It is a good idea to read this thread on
MELS MIX as soon as possible.
Please keep us posted on your progress, and if you have questions, please feel free to ask.

Re: New to SFG
Please be sure to wet down the Mel's Mix thoroughly before you plant! If I had it to do over again, I'd wet down every 1" - 2" of MM at a time.
Re: New to SFG
Very good tip, Donna.
Rehydrating the peat and Mel's Mix is very important. I did water in with every two inches of MM that I put into my Table Top and it took close to 20 gallons of water for 1 - 4 ft X 4 ft X 8in Table Top. (I measured)

Re: New to SFG
Hi MAT6 and welcome to the Forum.
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
