While I was looking at the SFG boxes that others made, I noticed that there were some deeper, stacked boxes. I am also planning on making some deeper boxes so I can plant carrots, etc. anywhere I want.

Anyway, I am looking at stacking three 2x4s or two 2x6's... final decision based on cost and availability. Only hangup I am having is how to secure the layers without buying expensive hardware or wasting interior space with corner posts.

How did others do this?

SirTravers posted a couple days ago how he did it. I thought it was simple and clean. I'll see if I can find it. That's a tough one to use the search function for.

The rebar connection looks really good but I am not sure I can do it. I am pretty basic in my building and I will not involve my husband. (He has a negative attitude and will take the joy out of my project. Stacked SFG Boxes Icon_mad )

Also, since I am building these alone I am not sure I can line them up properly for the "oil" placement trick to work.

Is there any other method I can use?

You can buy nailing plates at your favorite big box store. Ask for the area where Simpson ties are sold (joist hangars, rafter ties, post anchors, etc). One on each inner side and some nails.

Originaly when i built my box's the corner posts i have were made a bit longer for a future use but im sure if you went a bit taller on the corners you could easily extend the height of your box's just Line up the wood inside the verticals and screw the new height into them
heres a quick look at the box to get a visual
